Sweet Flowers with Ajarb Bernard

Cameroonian artist, Ajarb Ategwa Bernard, transcribes portraiture to celebrate Cameroonian women in his Sweet Flowers of Douala series. His paintings are bright, bold, and full of personality, with each subject appearing in rich colours, strong poses, and patterned clothing that immediately pulls you in.

The African fabrics, flowers, and colours help tell us who these women are, how they want to be seen, and the rich culture they carry with them.
