Adire Batik Workshop

Supporting women to gain income earning skills in the arts

Muse Origins Sponsors two women

We were proud to sponsor two women to Adire Patterns’ intensive 2-day Adire batik training held in the Nike Art Gallery in Abuja last June 2021. One of the women was a mature widow, and the other was a young girl starting out on her journey. We are especially happy to have contributed because this training provides women with a life-long skill through which they can actually earn income.

Adire Patterns holds several of these workshops annually, so check it out. We can’t wait to contribute again.

Plain Sheets Workshop

“Creating something out of the ordinary is quite thrilling! It leaves us amazed at the wonder of creativity. The world in all its intricacies was made out of void. Seeing through this lens, you will never want for inspiration for your creative endeavor. Infinite potential leads to infinite rumination, or inaction. When anything is possible, where do we start from? Where do we begin when the sky is the limit?”

Mbari Uno and Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) collaborated on the Plain Sheets workshop. It was hosted by MoCA founder, Uchay Joel Chima, who led participants to generate ideas, find a way to be creative with what they had (plain sheets), and trained their minds to see potential in the mundane.

Muse Origins sponsored two participants to attend the Plain Sheets workshop in March 2021!

APPRECIating our followers…

For our first project, we collaborated with Nigerian illustrator, Etubi Onucheyo, a.k.a. Mumu Illustrator to give 10 Instagram followers free illustrated display pictures in December 2020.

Followers who liked the Instagram giveaway post were chosen randomly. We were happy to be able to do this because we have gotten such support from people who like African art on Instagram. Check out the gifts below.

We’re just starting out on our journey, so we hope to do much more to showcase African art, by Africans, diaspora, and really anyone who loves and appreciates the African creativity narrative!
