Yellow Yemisi's Everyday Women

Imagine being able to bring your thoughts and feelings to life whenever you feel like it. Nigerian illustrator, Yemisi Williams, a.k.a. Yellow Yemisi does just this and it’s so refreshing to see. Whether it’s a portrait about working from home, or reading a book, or even going to lunch by your self, Yellow Yemisi presents these seemingly mundane everyday acts in striking color and compelling portraiture.

Of course, Yemisi’s portraits are in her unique style of glowing blacked-out skin (contrasting perfectly with all the radiant shades she uses for everything else), exaggerated eyes and lids inviting viewers in, and of course, the omnipresent confident red lips. It’s not hard to place yourself in the shoes of the subjects, really just going through life and enjoying it too.
