Eniyan in Thought by Yusuff Aina

Nigerian artist, Yusuff Aina, uses his art to explore a thoughtful subject - how our minds work and how we make decisions that affect the world around us. Everyone has a different approach to how they think, analyse issues and challenges, and how they approach actually taking the step to address those issues, and make a change. Aina uses his unique paintings and installations to explore this issue.

Eniyan, the name of his mask-like, pensive character, is a staple in his paintings and sculptures. You can see Eniyan mostly in deep reflection - about life, about who they are, about the effects of their decisions.

This mask also translates across Aina’s work in such a unique way. For example, jis portrait series, even though having a lighter note/feel, is characterised by the mask - perhaps hiding who these celebrities really are.
