When I Stare by Justin Dingwall
South African photographer, Justin Dingwall, takes his already incredible commercial photography leaps forward with his series titled ‘When I Stare at the Night Sky’. Each life size creation in the series features a portrait of a beautiful young Black woman, photographed bare, vulnerable and open; but obviously confident in herself. But more uniquely, Justin uses red, white and brown threads sewn across the portrait to show how connected she, and in fact everyone, is to each other, to society, to the inner being, to the universe.
