The Forgotten by Zwelethu Machepha

Zwelethu Machepha is a South African artist whose works tell stories about forgotten populaces in his home country. He uses charcoal, fine line pens, watercolour and acrylic to create portraits that are distorted and nuanced.

Many expressions and impressions are interposed in dark layers - an arresting composition that invites you to keep staring. It’s almost as though the longer they are forgotten, the more warped they become - and in relation, the more that affects society.

People aren’t meant to be forgotten.
