In Spaces with Siphesihle Ntsungwana

South African artist, Siphesihle Ntsungwana, uses acrylic on canvas and paper to document his life. Many of his works features self portraits of him interacting in spaces and with his friends. The beauty of everyday life is a large part of his work - strolling through neighbourhoods, moments with other people, people watching - those moments that make up the majority of our lives.

But Siphesihle also depicts how the everyday can also be a magical experience - vibrant blue flowers spilling out of a doorway, forcing their way into a relatively bland space, as if forcing joy in. Lluxury cars falling onto the street, heralding riches in abandon. Flowers and petals floating in the air all around him.

Siphesihle says this about his art: “I would like to tell the readers that I use my work to document my life and to understand life itself. I hope to inspire them to do the same in whichever art form they choose to use themselves.”
