Colour and Cool with Hassan Hajjaj
Moroccan-British photographer, Hassan Hajjaj, is well known for bright, playful portraits that mix Moroccan culture with pop art and street style. His portraits feature personal friends, celebrities and people he is impressed with. Each one is instantly recognizable because of it’s bold, contrasting colours, patterns and unique frames that feature everyday home objects like canned foods and packaging.
Each portrait truly is a celebration of colour, but also of cool. Hassan sometimes features his fashion creations in his portraiture - hence the cool! And even though there is a lot going on visually, it never feels random. It’s a celebration of the many colours of Morocco that should clash but instead, feel joyfully right.
