Portraits and Texture with Justin Dingwall

South African photographer, Justin Dingwall, reimagines his popular portraits in a way that gives it texture and depth.

His portraits feature women adorned in local travel sacks and bejewelled in bicycles and wheels. Justin celebrates a fact of life in community - travel and movement. But this time, he does it using linen and cotton threads, giving each image a handmade, local, and archival feel. It’s almost like each portrait is being stitched into existence but at the same time, has been in existence for eons.

See some of our favourites - it was hard to pick.
