Human Stories by Christian Hiadzi
Ghanaian-British artist, Christian Hiadzi, explores the quiet depth of the human condition and the relationships that this necessitates. As part of this series, he manipulates oil on canvas into monochrome portraits. The quietness and solitude these exude ultimately feels confident and sure.
Where they are with partners, each stands aloft, not touching, not connecting - gazes to the distance or fixed calmly on you, the viewer. When alone, they remain equally assured and unapologetic. Bursts of color pop off the monochrome quietness of the portraits - red lips signal self-assurance; colored trousers herald playfulness and hope.
